From My Reading Corner
Thoughts from my reading corner:
It has been a minute since the last blog post. I have missed putting my thoughts on paper. My writing slowed this summer, but everything has a season, and I am ready to get back to it! It is officially blog season. I have decided to change it up a bit. I will send one newsletter a month instead of one every week. I think you will appreciate less in your inbox, and I will appreciate the ability to recap my month as a whole.
The month of September has flown by. Ella Bella started Kindergarten…how that is even possible, I don’t know! The kids are playing soccer and loving it. I love watching their budding personalities, laughing with them, and genuinely enjoying any moment I get to spend with them. Some of my favorite memories from this month have been the little moments that seem inconsequential at the time, but it is time I cherish. Tucker waking up earlier than normal and watching the sunrise together on the front porch before anyone else was up. Reading books from our little library in the driveway. Snuggling together in our bed and watching Chopped Sweets Chef Challenge—we have a love for cooking competition shows.

Book update: Although I am not currently working on a new title for the T-Rex and Tuck or Ella Bella series, we are coming up on one of my busiest fall/winter seasons as an author that I have ever had. Save the dates below, I hope to see you there!

What We Are Reading
Tuck’s Bookshelf: Dog Man by Dav Pilkey is one of the top picks, especially over the summer. He has been checking out books about military vehicles at school and loves his random facts about outer space book.
Ella Bella’s Bookshelf: If You Give a Mouse a Cookie was her latest school library pick, but she is still really on her coloring grind. If you ask her, she is still obsessed with Shel Silverstein’s Giraffe and a Half.
My Bookshelf: The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren and The Heist by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg. Next month I plan on giving you a comprehensive list of the books I have read so far this year so stay tuned.
Tip: Continue reading aloud to your kiddos even as they get older.
I am currently reading, The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo aloud to the kids as we wind down after school.

Writing Notes and Letters
One of my personal goals for 2026 was to write more letters to friends and family. I wish I had kept a running total of how many I have sent, but it has brought me such joy. It seems silly, but slowing down and writing something pen-to-paper has been such a therapeutic practice for me. It’s a feel good activity for you and the loved one receiving it.
Since I have started doing this, my kids have started to write and draw notes for me. My fridge is loaded with special pictures and notes. We used to wait until a holiday was coming up to work on something to send family and friends, but my challenge to you is to write a little note or color a paper with your child and then send it to someone. It teaches your children to think of others and is a nice activity to get you all to slow down and spend time together. You never know what funny topics will come up in conversation when you slow down long enough to hear them.
Opening your mailbox to some unexpected happy mail is a lot more exciting than a bill.
