Book Fest Omaha

I have been reflecting on our move to Omaha recently. Maybe it’s because we are about to celebrate our first Christmas here, or perhaps it’s because I am attending my first Omaha show tomorrow. (Omaha Book Fest from 9-3 if you are local). I have met some really incredible people in these last few months. It has me excited for what’s to come in 2026.

As we gear up for the holiday break, I hope you take a moment to be grateful for how far you have come and how much we all have to be thankful for. I appreciate each one of you reading this week after week and supporting my small business. I have a lot of exciting things coming in 2026. I can’t wait to share more, but until then, have a wonderful weekend—and I hope to see many of you at BookFestOmaha.com tomorrow!

What We Are Reading

Tuck’s Bookshelf: Hooray for Fly Guy by Tedd Arnold

Ella Bella’s Bookshelf: I Spy With My Little Eye Jingle and Find (it’s a search and find Christmas book)

My Bookshelf: My mother-in-law brought me a few books when they visited over Thanksgiving. It might take me a while to get through all of them, but I just started The Last Noel by Michael Malone.

Christmas Kindness Chain Countdown

We’ve had a busy last few weeks, and I think it finally caught up to Ella Bella. She has been fighting a cold this week, which meant a couple of days home from school. This made my week a little trickier, but we tried to make the most of it.

We made our “Kindness Christmas Countdown.” It is a tried-and-true craft for the holidays…I remember making these paper chains all the time when I was little. The difference is that I write a little sentence on each piece of paper that might help us spread some kindness this season. You can add as many days to the countdown as you like, but I usually stick to about 12. You cut the paper into strips (we used red, white, and green) and then glue the ends together as you go to create a chain. Then every morning, we take one off and try to complete the task.

Here are a few of the statements I put on the paper links:

-Donate a book.

-Donate a shirt.

-Compliment someone.

-Help clean up a mess you didn’t make.

It has been a hit around here. Let me know if you make your own countdown chain.

Until next week, happy reading.
